"The
Virginia Dare" had the distinction
of being the only home in the 1996 Parade
of Homes that visitors simply couldn't miss
catching a glimpse of. The Virginia Dare,
with 3,300 sq. ft. of living space, features
a curved, gravel-laid walkway that glides
to the brick front steps. Elongated windows
frame the eight raised panel front door
which is the color of spiced rum. The aluminum
siding has been stained brown and is textured
to feel like a wooden surface. The home
is trimmed with a warm, red brick facing,
The
stairs in the entry way are supported by
a designer Chippendale railing and lead
to the second floor landing from which the
great room and backyard can be easily viewed.
This
home is accented with geometrically featured
window trim that reaches high and coiling
wrought iron chandeliers and light fixtures
which hang low - a veritable symphony of
contrasts. Several bathrooms in the home
contain an interesting feature - decorative
yet elegant privacy screens.
The
studio above the three-car garage is immense.
There are steps leading down to it from
the second floor landing as well as steps
leading from it that exit into the functional
utility room. The possibilities with this
room are endless and will be invaluable
for 21st century family living.
The
master suite is on the first floor , an
L-shaped counter with a walk-in closet and
antique-like light fixtures. The whirlpool
is the attention grabber here. Two people
can easily luxuriate in it while rushing
water spouts from the spigots wide and curving,
gleaming cover.
The
open planned great room leads out to a fabulously
designed deck with planter. The great room
features a mirrored bar, a raised fireplace
with built-in shelving making this room
perfect for showing off your finest collectibles
and portraits.
